Coupon Chief Website Review
A while back, I listed a few retail chains where board game aficionados like Scrabble players could buy games at, and suggested they use coupons from one of these newfangled coupon websites when they made their purchase.
It probably sounded like Granny talking, but what Granny probably won’t tell you is that online coupons are easy to print off and available for virtually any retail chain you can name. The point being, Internet coupons are so easy to use that it’s senseless not to use them. Since Scrabble players are known for their analytical skills, I assumed they would appreciate the advice.

Along those same lines, I wanted to review a site I visited recently in my own attempt to practice what I had preached, so today I talk about couponchief.com. I’ve never mentioned the site before when talking about coupons, so this is fresh territory.
Coupon-Chief follows a similar format to other coupon code sites I’ve visited, with a page for every online and in-store retail chain. You’ll find featured stores like Best Buy, Expedia, and HP Home Store on the homepage, while prominent links take you to pages for Old Navy coupons, Cafe Press dotcom coupons, Casual Male Coupons, and so on. You get the point.
Popular Coupons – Browse by Popular Tags
To the right top of the CouponChief homepage you’ll find a feature called “browse by popular tags”, where you’ll find lists for the currently popular searches, which change according to the week, the month, or the season. For instance, here are some of the current tags featured.
- Mother Days Coupons
- Gift Coupons
- Christmas Coupons (always popular)
- Clothing Coupons
- Jewelry Coupons
- Health Coupon Codes
- Furniture Discounts
- Baby Coupons
- Electronics Sales
- Toy Sales
- Food Coupons
If you’re never used one of these sites, you’ll see the possibilities opening up to you. If you have a baby in the family, lord knows you need discounts on diapers, formula, kids clothes, and toys. You can browse through the best coupon deals and promotions with a few clicks on your mouse.
People needing furntiture or home decor, or needing new shoes or clothing, suddenly have a wealth of coupon options to choose from. But you might be asking: do these coupons spend in my town?
Old Navy Coupons – An Example
I’ll go to Coupon Chief’s Old Navy coupon page as an example to help answer that question. Go to the page and you’ll find 44 different types of coupons added onto the website by Old Navy customers and shoppers. Like one of my favorite coupon sites, Retail-Me-Not, you’ll find the familiar success rate rating stat to help you decide which coupons you should use.
The #1 Old Navy coupon at the moment is a 1-day only coupon for 20% off women and womens-plus items. This coupon code is for April 20 (today), so you get immediate feedback on whether this coupon worked or is working.
There’s posted an 82% success rate, which shows several things. First, it shows that most Old Navy customers found the printable coupon code useful. It also shows that a lot of people have given feedback on that item today, because you wouldn’t get to 82% with only 5 or 10 people rating the coupon. That’s because, on the “Did this Coupon Work?” question, your only answers are a check-mark or an “X”, not some rating system (a good thing, in my mind). Either a coupon works or it doesn’t.
More Coupon Chief Coupons
Other Coupon Chief coupons for Old Navy include free shipping on $150 purchases for online shopping, save 10% on Tuesday orders using your “Gap, Banana Republic, Old Navy, or Pipeline” credit card, new customers get a 10% discount on your first order, free shipping on $100 or more purchases, and free shipping with a use of your Banana Republic Luxe card. These are just a few of the options.
The coupon success rates are color-coated using green, yellow, and red, to help you make snap decisions about which coupons to spend your time printing. Green means you’re probably going to have success, yellow means you have only a middling chance, and red means it’s not worth your time.
Review of Coupon Chief Website
The grade for a site like this comes down to how much money they help you save, and how much time it takes to get those savings. If one of these sites waits too long to take down old coupons that are no longer valid, that’s a waste of your time. If too many coupons aren’t worth your time and you have to browse through them on page-after-page, that becomes a waste of time.
On the first question, I saw no out-of-date coupons in a brief survey of their coupon pages. To me, that’s a big plus, because many coupon sites let invalid coupons site out there too long, which wastes my time. So a big advantage to Coupon-Chief on this account.
Coupon Success Rates
On the second question, I did find a number of coupons that weren’t that useful. Take the Old Navy page, for example. There was one green coupon, then a whole lot of yellow and a whole lot of red coupons. I would have hoped for more, so I took a look at some of the other pages.
Casual Male was only a little better. Cafe-Press was much better, with 7 green-lighted coupons. Swanson Health Products were about the same, and Staples coupons even better. Of the 50 Office Max coupons, all where in the middle yellow range, except for 6 unsuccessful coupons.
Submit-A-Coupon – Coupon Chief
So on second review, there are a lot of useful coupons on the site. It helps to have them grouped according to the best-first, so if I want to avoid the bad coupons altogether, I just avoid scrolling down the page at all.
There’s another way to make a website like this better, and that’s to participate in uploading good coupons. Ultimately, that’s what a good coupon website is about–costumers uploading printable coupons and coupon codes onto the side, sharing their good bargains with other shoppers out there.
Coupon shopper participation is key to a site like Coupon-Chief, whether you share coupons yourself or spend time to give valuable feedback on the coupons you try to use. This is the information age, and a coupon website should reflect the sum total of information that all its visitors have. From the large number of coupons on each retail chains page, to the large number of reviews for the bulk of the coupons, I found sizable customer participation at CouponChief.com. So consider this a positive recommendation for the site.
Coupon Chief – How It Works
I hope my review has also served as an informal guide to how to use a coupon website. If not, visit the homepage of CouponChief and click on the “How It works” link at the top right of that page. This should give you all the information you need to start online coupon shopping yourself. Good luck finding bargains.
